Playing with Water

 

Playing with water as oppose to playing with fire… for as long as I can remember I have been called by many names but one that is a constant is that am a stubborn fellow. Thats because I tend not to listen to people’s suggestions specially when it comes to dealing with a dilemma or a direction. I also have been called a masochist because I would rather go to a path of pain than taking the easy way out. Well, I don’t enjoy pain and I don’t enjoy having to deal with painful problems.

One thing I know is that when all the advices tends to agree, I tend to take the opposite route.  In the end it is easier for me to accept defeat or failure if I knew I made the decision base on my own assessment. I am my own to blame, I guess. But having said that my decision to follow my choice has always served me right.

I don’t really think of myself as being stubborn but persistent and persistance can be a good thing. If someone say to you it can’t be done why not just do it. If that’s what you want then in the end its you who is rewarded. As Thomas Edison said  “I have not failed 1,000 times. I have successfully discovered 1,000 ways to NOT make a light bulb.”

The bible says to those who persist that they will rise again and will reap the reward. Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Luke 11:9-10 And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Proverbs 24:16 For the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity.

I guess being trained in this tested principle, I have a first hand experience of the sweet victory. Therefore, knowing the easy way out may be convenient but persistence pays.  If God says so then it is so.
